One of Branson's most popular attractions, the
Branson Scenic Railway provides an
old-fashioned train trip through the legendary Ozarks wilderness. Visitors board the Ozark Zephyr Railway at the
century-old depot in
downtown Branson and take a
40-mile, 1-3/4-hour journey north to the
James River Valley or south into the
Boston Mountains of Arkansas.
Passengers who
board early can ride in one of the train's
1952 Budd Dome Observation cars with
panoramic views. On Saturdays at 5 p.m. visitors by reservation can experience the
Railway's 48-seat dining car and a candlelight dinner featuring a chicken, beef, or fish entree and trimmings. It's a
colorful trip into the past in the style of the age, and fun for the whole family.
