At the
Baldknobbers Theatre, 2835 W. Highway 76.
Branson's
first show,
The Baldknobbers Jamboree has been performing for audiences since
1959! The theatre opens its
2011 season in March, which marks the
52nd season as
Branson's First Show. There are also
two special shows at 8 pm on February 11 & 12, 2011 for
Valentine's Day.
The 2011 show features two hours of all-new power packed
country,
bluegrass,
gospel and
patriotic music,
beautiful costumes and the side-splitting comedy antics of
Hargus Marcell,
Stub Meadows and
Droopy Drawers, Jr. In November and December, the
first half of the show features "the best of 2011" and the
second half of the show is
The Baldknobbers Christmas Show.
Before joining The Baldknobbers Jamboree Music Show,
Hargus Marcell (Jeri Adams) performed with the
Moe Bandy Show,
Country Tonite Show and
The Sons of the Pioneers Show. He's been bringing laughter to Branson stages for more than thirty years.
This is Branson' longest continuously running show and is owned by the
Mabe family. It has spanned five decades and three generations. The show was originally performed on the lakefront for any fishermen who would listen and it quickly drew in large crowds and gained national publicity. Larger facilities were needed for the show and audience, so it was moved to its current location in 1968. Many updates and renovations later, the theater now seats 1500 people.
