Now playing at the
Hot Hits Theater in
Downtown Branson, 206 S Commercial Street.
Clem Samuels (a.k.a. Dave "Elvis" Ehlert) stars as
Mark Twain in this remarkable tribute to
America's most noted humorist and to the work of beloved illustrator
Norman Rockwell. "Twain" comments on the world in general and in particular on Rockwell's illustrations for the
Tom & Huck tales. In addition, the show's
Rockwell Gallery features
over 100 of Rockwell's most endearing illustrations.
You'll be laughing in the aisles with this uncanny portrayal of the whisky drinkin' cigar smokin' humorist who inspired the world with his sharp tongue and soft heart. Norman Rockwell's
artwork is displayed on a huge
projection screen during the show. Let the artwork of
America's most beloved illustrator take you back to an
earlier time in America when doors were left unlocked and you always stopped to help a stranger.
All this and a FREE breakfast!
This show has had enthusiastic reviews. Breakfast is included
free with admission.
The show runs March 8 through December 29th, 2010; Monday through Wednesday; Breakfast at 9 am and the show starts at 9:45 am. (no shows Oct. 21 - Dec. 23, 2010)
Historical Notes for the Mark Twain show:
Previously at the
Historic Owen's Theatre in
Downtown Branson, 205 S Commercial Street.
The
Owen's Theatre is
Branson's first theater, built in
1935 by former
Branson Mayor Jim Owen. It is now (and has been for the past 15 years in 2009) the home of
Elvis and the Superstars and 2 other shows. The theater's
200 seats have been replaced, but its rustic rock walls, "A-frame"
cathedral ceiling and
Fireplace Room Lobby are still there for a perfect blend of "old" and "new."
