At the
Mickey Gilley Theatre, 3455 W Highway 76.
Mickey News: Mickey Gilley fell and required back surgery on Tuesday, July 7, 2009. It all went well, and Mickey has made remarkable strides in his rehabilitation. His shows were "on hold" while he recovered. He returns to his Branson stage
again in 2011! He is looking forward to performing all of the classic songs he has had over the past 38 years.
Mickey Gilley's soulful piano and voice have taken him a long way from the boyhood days of listening to the blues in Ferriday, Louisiana. After struggling for years as musician, Mickey found an audience with the honky-tonk classics "
Room Full of Roses," "
I Overlooked An Orchid," and "
Don't the Girls All Look Prettier at Closing Time." Then came the romantic country hits "
That's All That Matters" and "
Lonely Nights," and eventually an
amazing 39 Top Ten country songs, 17 of them hitting #1.
There was also the legendary nightclub
Gilley's, the movie
Urban Cowboy, and a whole new career
winning new fans at his own theatre in
Branson.
Mickey's back in 2011 (this is his
21st year in Branson; he opened his Branson theater in
1990) with the
signature hits,
comic banter with steel guitarist
Joey Riley (twice Branson's All-American Comedian of the Year; now with his own 2 pm show at the theater), Branson's only Grammy Award-winning band, the
Urban Cowboy Band, beauteous
Urbanette singers
Penny Cardin and
Jana King Evans, and plenty of
surprises.
Mick's too modest to say it, so we'll say it for him. This is a chance to see a
bona fide American musical legend, who is a genuinely nice guy to boot. Don't miss this opportunity to see a true
Country Music Legend doing what he does best!
Shows are at 8:00 pm; April 3 through December 13, 2011.
Historical notes for Mickey Gilley: former Urbanette singers, Kacie Bays and Katie Lynn. Katie Lynn received the
Branson Entertainment Awards Best Support Vocalist twice for her work in the
Mickey Gilley Show. She worked with
Gilley for more than
eight years and also worked with
Jim Owen for
seven years.
