Good news – is in the air...

Southwest Airlines to serve Branson Airport:

• Southwest Airlines purchased its low-cost competitor AirTran in the middle of last year, 2011
• AirTran provides most of the flights at the Branson Airport
• The good news – Southwest will continue to serve Branson and convert AirTran Airways at the Branson Airport to Southwest Airlines over time
• AirTran is still taking air reservations through September 28, 2012
• Even better – if we see the "Southwest Effect" in Branson, which is when Southwest's arrival in a market drives prices down

This could be good news for Branson/Springfield area travelers. Keep your fingers crossed!
